Welcome to Mariposa County, California, the Mother of Counties.  The Mariposa County Board of Supervisors are quite proud of our beautiful county and believe that if offers a tremendous variety of wonderful backdrops for your next production.  From rolling, grassy foothills covered with a kaleidoscope of wildflowers, natural ponds surrounded by majestic oak trees, the upper woodland areas with abundant pines and wildlife, and historic landmarks and buildings, you’re sure to find the perfect location.

Because there is no incorporated city in Mariposa County, the Board of Supervisors is the local governing authority, and we strive to encourage production in our county by making permits easy to obtain and inexpensive.  Our “small town” atmosphere makes for a very enjoyable experience away from the hustle and bustle of the large cities.  In fact, there isn’t even a stop light in our county and there’s no “rush hour” traffic to avoid.  Because of our close proximity to several metropolitan areas, we are still able to offer an array of services necessary for film production and photo shoots.  We also have some fantastic local businesses that are willing to go the “extra-mile” and give personal attention to your project.
